Use Bitly For URL Shortening And Posting Stats

So most of you know what Bitly is and if you use social media, Bitly is one of your best friends. But for those who never heard of bitly, it’s an online tool that allows you to shorten any URL to just 14 characters. This is very helpful when doing post on sites like Twitter where there is a 240 character limit. This allows you to get more information about your post with less worry about character limit of a link.

Sign Up and Pricing

You do not need to sign up to be able to use bitly. simply go to bitly.com and right on their homepage is an empty space to paste the URL you want to shorten. However, the main benefit to signing up and creating an account with bitly is the ability to track clicks and view some analytics about a certain post. You may create up to 50 links per month, plenty for most basic online posting. And they recently just added QR Code creations to you URLs. Overall, If you are looking to build an audience and to learn what type of posts they engage with, Bitly is amazing.

Of course they do have some paid tiers for those who really want to go all out on posts or if you have a small business. Lot of people use a “Link in Bio” platform like Linktree, but the $8 tier gives access to bitly’s version, more links to create, and URL redirects. But on a personal level, the FREE version does plenty.

Analytics

For most who really want to excel on their socials (and you really should want to), their analytics tools are great to gauge what posts and links get the most clicks. The image below doesn’t give you a great idea what the graph looks but at least you can see what the backend looks like. But with this information, you will know what type of post you should continue to post and which ones you could drop or re-tool for better engagement.
